Im interested cos i found out that the US military dont have to pay tax if they are not based in the countryIs it true if your a US citizen working abroad you dont have to pay tax?
A US citizen working abroad can elect to exclude up to $85,700 in earned income. The taxpayer must be a bona fide resident of a foreign country or have spent at least 330 days outside the US in a 12 month period. The exclusion does not apply to employees of the US government, which includes employees of some private companies managing US facilities overseas. As employees of the US government, military personnel are not able to make the election.
Some military pay is tax free if earned while in a combat zone.Is it true if your a US citizen working abroad you dont have to pay tax?
