Is that true if you'r not a U.S citizen , you can't get academic scholarship?

I mean, I am a senior , undergratude, my friens applied for scholarships but coulpe days ago one of my teachers said that if you are not a U.S city you cannot apply for Scholarships and you cannot get money for your study?

Please helpIs that true if you'r not a U.S citizen , you can't get academic scholarship?
The rules for each scholarship are different. Are you sure they didn't say if you are not a permanent resident? Anyway, lawful permanent residence accorded to legal immigrants should not disqualify a person. Again, the rules may differ.

I'm thinking the intention is that such scholarships do not go to ILLEGAL ALIENS. Check again and make sure.Is that true if you'r not a U.S citizen , you can't get academic scholarship?
unfortunately its true.. there might be some grants for exchange students.. but Scholarships have citizenship clauses.. it cuts down on giving government money to illegal aliens
You did not mention if you are illegal or if you are here legally. Hope that is true if you are illegal. If you have a student visa, you can apply for anything you want. That means you are legal and deserve it. If you are illegal, I don't think you deserve it anyway and should just go back and apply for a student visa and come here legally. Why would you deserve money if you break laws?
It depends on the scholarship. Some donors leave money with certain conditions, so that money can only be given to people who meet the donor's criteria. Sometimes this includes citizenship, residency, ethnicity, etc. But it all depends on the particular scholarship.
Personally, I think that is a very good policy. Financial assistance for education should be given only to US citizens. Go to your own country for financial assistance for your education. Why should YOU get assistance here instead of one of our own citizens?
It depends on the Scholarship, they make their own rules.
Totally false. But you may have to be a permanent resident at least to get scholarsips, and not when you're here on visa.
Scholarships are private. If your Aunt Z wished to leave you money, your citizenship would have nothing to do with it. However, as mentioned above, when people set up these foundations they can set whatever rules they choose.

It is highly unlikely that any law exists denying scholarships on the basis of citizenship.

I wouldn't mind a law denying them to ILLEGALS, though. Unless they returned to their own country to study. Nice incentive, actually.

...
you might have to ask a school advisor/counselor about that one.
I think the teacher is wrong. Go to the Student Aid office and ask there. They know the truth.
