Is it only a myth or true, that an average American citizen can have a stable and high standard of living?

In other words, doesn't have finanfial problems. (I'm thinking of average salaries now)Is it only a myth or true, that an average American citizen can have a stable and high standard of living?
American citizens are either rich or poor these days. The middle class has been fading out for quite a few years now. Get a college degree, still wind up working as a waiter or bus boy, unless you know the right people. Connections is what it's all about.Is it only a myth or true, that an average American citizen can have a stable and high standard of living?
if you use common sense the average person will not get into serious debt, never borrow beyond your means,save money in the bank regularly, have a family when you are financially secure.





if you earn $400 a week, don't pay $1000 a month rent, find somewhere more economical or change your job to a better one first.





don't spend $2000 on a vacation when you don't have that money set aside.





if people learned about life at school, budgeting and finacial education, a lot less people would get into such bad debt.
