Is it true a senior citizen marries another senior citizen she gets a pension equivalent to one half of his? h

when an immigrant senior citizen marries an american senior citizen,she receives a pension from government equivalent to one half of her husbands...how soon is this?does this come right after marriage or untill she becomes an american citizen herself?Is it true a senior citizen marries another senior citizen she gets a pension equivalent to one half of his? h
Marriage doesn't automatically confer citizenship. It takes years to prove that the marriage is bona fide, so your immigration status would make a difference.

The survivor benefits:

- A widow or widower, at full retirement age or older, generally receives 100 percent of the worker鈥檚 basic benefit amount;

- A widow or widower, age 60 or older, but under full retirement age, receives about 71-99 percent of the worker鈥檚 basic benefit amount; or

- A widow or widower, any age, with a child under age 16, receives 75 percent of the worker鈥檚 benefit amount.
