Is it true a baby born in France to non-French parents can't become a French citizen?

I've read that unless he/she serves in the French army he/she can't become a French citizen. If this is true, it's not much of a hurdle!!! Training to drop your rifle and raising both arms up high should be easy!!Is it true a baby born in France to non-French parents can't become a French citizen?
Holy Crap you are too funny, yea, not much of a hurdle there, French Army would be a heck of a lot easier than the US Army. Anyways, i think the answer is no, because in order to be a French citizen, your parents have to be a citizen. Kind of like the grandfather clause in the reconstruction era saying that blacks could not vote unless their grandfather voted, well, that was not possible since they were slaves then. It is a way around not making somebody a citizen. I don't think it is fair. Besides, aren't the French kinda stuck up? Maybe that is why, they think they are a unique race or something. Whatever. Is it true a baby born in France to non-French parents can't become a French citizen?
Who would want to be a French Fry.
';Jezza'; is quite close to truth.

A child can automatically CHOOSE to become a French citizen at the age of 18, if the following conditions are satisfied:

1. She/he was born in France

2. She/he lived in France at least for 5 years in total (I don't quite remember the details, but I believe it should include at least three years from age 13 to 18).

If at least one of the parents becomes a French citizen, her/his children can be included into her/his dossier and become French too.

BTW, comparing experiences of my friends in the U.S. and in France I found that it is easier to become a French citizen than a U.S. citizen. If you receive a French university diploma and get a job, you can become a citizen.
You can find out in the frence immigration laws, if a child born in france can become a french citizen
maybe.
Kind of true. A French person does not become a citizen of the Republique until they are 18. It's a load of rubbish though because they get a french passport etc when they are children. It all goes back to the Revolution. Anyway, as someone has already said, who the heck would want to be French. They don't like anyone, but no-one likes them right back!
