Is it true that America is the land of opportunity but, only if you aren't an American Citizen?

As an American white male, I am constantly being told ';I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do to help you unless you are female, a minority, or from another country.'; Can someone satisfy my curiosity as to why I should just tuck my tail between my legs and allow my government to give everything I worked for to all of the above named people?Is it true that America is the land of opportunity but, only if you aren't an American Citizen?
its the same in England i was homeless a couple of years ago and i went to try and get some housing. They said have you got any kids i replied no, you are not an asylum seeker i replied no. Well they said they can;t help me so i helped myself got a better job and rented privately i stuck 2 fingers up to out housing system and did it by myself. Now i am of mixed parentage Chinese and white but i think its about helping yourself in this day and age and not on a government that is wanting to win points.Is it true that America is the land of opportunity but, only if you aren't an American Citizen?

If you can't help yourself no one can help you even the American government. America was built by people who believed in the right to pursue their happiness not the right to beg. Now American is synonymous with a social security number. That's sad!
Well as a caucasian I just have to say you are not alone, but the majority of whits believe if we don't work the country will fall a part and you know what, its true. Yes its our burden to feed the less favorite and be happy you are a US born white/caucasian person, the back bone of all the Americas.
Unfortunately, the U.S. Government seems to like taking care of others first, instead of their own citizens. The government needs to clean up their own back yard and take care of americans and let the others fend for theirselves. I know that we would have to if we were in another country. It is an insult to all to have to take care of the people from other countries when we along with our children do without so someone else can have. It is also an insult that our social security goes to ones who have never worked a day or much else tried to work.

Its sad but true, unless you are the minority group, even though you may score higher, or do the job better them. See this law about minorities being able to yell discrimination is bull chit, it is what keeps racism going. Yes it is hell to get a good job if you are a white man, i personally think that the white man is becoming discriminated against.
Well, let's face it, if you're a white American male you're to blame for everything that ever happened to anyone - or so we're told. We've oppressed the minorities, invaded other countries, beaten down our women, cheated the Native Americans, and on and on and ... so why should we have any opportunities? I think I'll just go shoot myself.
Absolutely you are correct! You have better advantage in the USA, especially dealing with any government entity whether it be local, state or federal govts, if you are a minority.





It is not the land of equal opportunity but the land of biased opportunity skewed towards the minorities. But even with this advantage, the minorities are still poor performers as a group, particularly the blacks and Hispanics.
You SHOULD NOT have to. I get a differing version of that, ';Because you are a citizen with no children and no terminal illness, there is nothing that can be done to help you, so please quit asking.'; I was trying to qualify for the state run insurance program for poor people. I had just had a heart attack and needed help with the $18,000.00 hospital bill. Guess which bill I will NEVER pay, even if I get rich! Isn't it amazing how the government will take our money but refuses to actually help the citizens of THIS country with it?
America IS the land of opportunity, but YOUR success depends on the choices you've made and will make throughout your life. It may sound cliche, but it IS true. Think about it.





The problem that most American citizens encounter, is that though America may be the land of opportunity, it is not the most forgiving land. It is one of the HARDEST places to start over and change your life in order to overcome the mistakes of your past. In America, mistakes concerning education, money, credit, family, and career are hard to overcome.





Plus, the government has provided more equally available opportunities to women, immigrants, and minorities, because this country has discriminated against those groups heavily for the majority of its existence and some of this discrimination continues to this day, thus the government seeks to balance the societal equation of equality.





I must add, that no matter what you may have experienced, Caucasian people (especially males) have always been given the advantage in America. They still have the advantage over the other groups to this day because having the advantage at birth gives them a head-start over others who are just learning how to maximize their potential in this society.
It sure SEEMS that way! Thanks to our worthless government, who's so busy KISSING @SS to foreigners to try to get votes!!





I don't believe in discrimination, and this INCLUDES reverse discrimination, which is what has been happening in this country for the last 20 years or more!!





If they are black, mexican,etc. then our government GIVES THEM, any damn thing they want!!! And if they don't, all these ';minorities'; have to do is yell DISCRIMINATION!!!!





';Discrimination'; seems to be the ';magic'; word, to get whatever they want!!





But, if you are WHITE, then you are just sc rewed! Because, don't you know, ';whites'; are the ONLY ones who can NOT be discriminated AGAINST!!! Even though WE are the minority now, we are NOT allowed to cry ';discrimination';!! How ';fair'; is THAT?
friend of mine said to me once, ';pity you're not a black, cripple lesbian';. Though I don't have a job to boast about, can't say i felt that that was a pity.
Yes it is 100% true
