It's not impossible if you do everything legally. If you are on a work visa, it takes 5 years of legal and continuous residency plus passing the Life in the UK exam and and English Language exam (if English is not your native language) in order to get Indefinite Leave to Remain (permanent residency). Then a year after receiving ILR you can apply for citizenship.
You would be rejected if you lied on an application, submitted forged documents, had been convicted of a crime, did not live in the UK on a proper visa during the qualifying period, previously overstayed a visa, can't speak English, in the case of a spouse visa you divorced before you got ILR, etc.
But if it's all done by the rules you can become a citizen 6 years after arriving in the UK on a work visa, or 3 years if you are on a spouse visaIs it true that, it is nearly impossible to become a citizen of the UK?
Yes it is true that it is hard to become a citizen.
Loads of people seem intent on coming to the UK . I know that there are some poor people in the world who think that the roads here are paved with gold but there are people from from less than impoverished countries who desire to live in these very small group of islands, just off the mainland of Europe too.
I was born here and I do not want to live any where else, much as I love to travel.
Thing is, we are full. A land can not cope with more people than it can feed. That is natural law. We import food already. If the countries we import food from do not have enough for themselves they will stop exporting and we will starve.
We are already being encouraged to grow food in our gardens and on any free land which is available. That is to maintain the skills of gardening because soon. The world population will exceed it's ability to support it's self.
What do we do then. Cull the old or prevent new births?
well i'm not sure about normal situations, but it was quite bloody easy for me to get in...but it was because i married a UK citizen. sorry idk if that was muuch help
