Is it true that you cant move up in ranks in Any military branch if your not a US Citizen?

Im planning on joining the Air Force when i finish high school which is in 2010. Im going to be a senior this year. One of my friends told me that you cant move up in ranks unless your a citizen is that true? Im 18 by the way and I am just a resident. Is it true that you cant move up in ranks in Any military branch if your not a US Citizen?
You make rank however you must obtain your US citizenship during your first enlistment in order reenlist. This is the good part the Air Force pays for it and will expedite the process. Is it true that you cant move up in ranks in Any military branch if your not a US Citizen?
Yes and no. The problem comes that at some point as you move up and take on more responsibility, you will need a higher security clearance. The problem then becomes the fact that if you are not a US citizen, then you cannot get that clearance, so the answer is that you could move up to a point.
You are limited to job selection and how long you can be in if you are not a citizen BUT the Military (all branches) will make sure you have more than enough time and resources to become a citizen. Staying and promoting will not be an issue unless you make it one.
Yes, kind of. The higher rank you obtain the higher security clearance you need. So you can only go as far as your security clearance will allow. Hope that made sense. Hard to explain.

So you wouldn't be able to get as high a rank as a US citizen.
Non citizen ,alien residents of the US can join the armed forces

Understand that enlistment expedites US citizenship.

Maj Wilson mentioned security clearance relative to rank %26amp; might be able to comment on the Polish born ( accent %26amp; all) US Army general

who's name I cannot recall.

Best regards
you can just only not as far as citizens
